Where we work
When homeowners and businesses across Cardiff and the surrounding valleys need fencing, decking or wider garden improvements, many turn to J&Z Fencing. Based in Penarth, on the edge of Cardiff, we have built our reputation across the capital's neighbourhoods, from the period properties of Roath and Pontcanna to the newer developments in Thornhill and Pentwyn, and out to Caerphilly, Barry and beyond.
Our base puts us within easy reach of the whole area. We regularly work for customers in Canton and Cathays, and equally welcome enquiries from further afield, whether you live in the leafy suburbs of Rhiwbina and Whitchurch, the coastal towns of Penarth and Dinas Powys, or the valley communities of Pontypridd and Caerphilly. We have also completed projects in Llanishen, Lisvane and Radyr, and across to Newport.

Free temporary fence repairs
One thing that sets J&Z Fencing apart wherever you are is our free temporary fence repair. When your fence is damaged by a storm or an accident, you can't always arrange the permanent repair straight away. We secure the gap to keep your garden safe and private, on the understanding that we then come back to carry out the full repair or replacement.
For families worried about children or pets getting out, or businesses that need a boundary secured quickly, it means one less thing to worry about while the full job is planned.
One local firm
Customers from Grangetown to Cwmbran choose us because we do more than fit fences. Whether you need replacement fencing, made-to-measure gates, composite or timber decking, a new patio or ongoing garden maintenance, it is all handled by one team.
Homeowners in Llandaff planning a complete garden renovation like dealing with one trusted company rather than coordinating several trades. Developers and businesses in Cardiff Bay and beyond use us for security fencing and site hoarding, as well as the landscaping that finishes a job.

Local knowledge
We have earned the trust of customers across the region, from Rumney and Pentyrch to Bridgend and Llantrisant, because we understand local properties. Cardiff's ground varies a lot, from the flat developments near the International Sports Village to the sloping gardens of Creigiau, and that affects how posts are set and how a fence is stepped.
Local building styles matter too. A Victorian terrace in Cathays calls for a sympathetic boundary, while a new build in St Fagans may suit something more contemporary. Whatever your CF or NP postcode, you get a local team with the experience to get it right, fair prices, and the same care from the first phone call to the final clear-up.
FAQs
We work across Cardiff, Penarth and the Vale of Glamorgan, and up to Caerphilly. We also take on work further afield, including Newport, Pontypridd and Bridgend. If you aren't sure, call 029 2271 5157 and ask.
No. Quotes are free. Send us a few photos and rough measurements through the contact form and we can often give you a provisional price before we visit.
Yes. As well as garden fencing for homes, we fit palisade and mesh security fencing for offices, warehouses and business units, and hoarding for building sites.
Usually not. In Wales a fence, wall or gate can normally go up to 2 metres high without planning permission, or 1 metre where it runs next to a road used by vehicles. Different rules can apply in conservation areas, to listed buildings and on some newer estates, so check with Cardiff Council, the Vale of Glamorgan Council or Caerphilly County Borough Council if you are unsure.
J&Z Fencing is a local family firm run by brothers Jamie and Zak. You deal with the same small team from the first visit to the final clear-up, wherever you are in the area.
